We are stoked to announce the UK release of Let’s Go To War’s Karmageddon album, available at record shops and digital outlets Mar 29th. You can buy it on iTunes here. We are planning international tours and looking forward to PJ and the crew travelling to the UK and Europe to spread the LGTW gospel – more to come soon….

Silver Starling’s new video for “Closer” was nominated this week on MTV’s The Freshman (USA). It’s currently in voting against new vids from Sigur Ros, Owl City and others. The group with the most votes this week gets a full add at MTV, which is rad and means SS will convert legions of new fans in the US of A. We love them and hopefully you do to – please take 2 seconds and vote for their vid here. Marcus, Marika, Liam, Peter and Gab just returned from Austin, TX where they were sharing their beuatiful music with the people of SXSW. Lucky for us in Canada, they are touring through April with Band of Skulls – dates in BC, Alterta, Ontario and Quebec (full listing on Myspace).

Last but certainly not least, Canada’s very own supergroup, The New Pornographers have released the second track from their eagerly anticipated new studio album, Together. Crash Years is available now on iTunes. It’s epic. It’s Rock. It’s Pop. It’s Indie. It’s all things in-between like only The New Pornos can be. Check it out!

AC and crew just announced a ton of North American tour dates to support the new album, Together, bringing the gospel of good music to believers far and wide. Lucky for us in Canada the group is playing Calgary, Edmonton, Sasktatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal and home town Vancouver. We understand we can’t keep them to ourselves (as much as we know there are Pornos fans in PEI, and NWT and Newfoundland, and all the other beautiful places in this country that would love to see and hear this amazing band. Never say never….. if Jack and Meg can do it, anyone can, right?)

The band is buying your first drink at the show….. well, kinda indirectly…… they are offering tickets for the North American tour at a reduced service charge through their website – no better way to get them then from the band direct! Check it out here (limited time only).

We’ve also launched the pre-order for Together through our friends at Kill The 8. You can pre-order Together on vinyl or CD and receive a limited edition 3-song 7″ (featuring the New Pornos covering Outrageous Cherry) and a free poster. Pretty rad! Limited quantity, so don’t wait on it! Anyone who pre-orders either the vinyl or CD will receive it in the mail on or slightly before the May 4th street date (…depending on how much we can game Canada Post). You’ll also receive a digital download of the record, so you can avoid the travails of trying to rip from vinyl (…although the crackles can sound cool). It is with great excitement that we share with you the first preview of The New Pornographers forthcoming album, Together. Inspired by Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs”, ABBA’s “Waterloo” and Siouxsie and the Banshees “Christine”……. like only The New Pornographers could – check out the track “Your Hands (Together)” here!

We will be releasing the full record May 4th in Canada and announcing spring tour dates next month. Lots to look forward to! As we mentioned in a previous post, this is truly a special band and we are proud to play a part in helping to share their incredible music with the world.

The New Pornographers – Together

We are so happy to announce plans for Together: the fifth full-length album from The New Pornographers, set to release May 4th in Canada on Last Gang. The album was co-produced by the band and Phil Palazzolo. It was recorded mostly in Vancouver, with additional sessions in Brooklyn, Woodstock and Catskill, New York. A.C. Newman composed nine of the songs, and Dan Bejar three. Carl and Dan are joined by the full crew - John Collins, Neko Case, Kurt Dahle, Kathryn Calder, Todd Fancey and Blaine Thurier. Also lending support are Annie Clark (St.. Vincent), Zach Condon (Beirut), Will Sheff (Okkervil River) and the Dap-Kings Horns, among other talents.

More varied, deeper and broader than its predecessors, Together marks the next step in the journey for a truly incredible band. We are proud to play a part in helping to share this with the world!
