CMW + SXSW: Toronto first….. then Austin…… then sleep.

Mar 10
12:30 PM

And so it begins….. the annual month of adventure: million shows, million meetings, ghosts in the Royal York, line-ups on Queen Street, 6th Street, BBQ, weirdos, panels, planes, trains and automobiles.  We are happy to have many of our artists showcasing at Canadian Music Week in Toronto and South By Southwest in Austin.  K-OS is making serious waves in the US (..and Australia – thanks Triple J!) – catch him before he splits with Drizzy Drake to take over the USA.  Magneta Lane is bringing their sexy goth-rock-pop sounds to The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern.  Silver Starling is winning people over with their beautiful hooks, infectious melodies and dreamy wall of sound.  Team Canada DJs are coming off two weeks blowing minds at the Olympics (we won 13 Gold you know…..).  And Toronto’s own Ten Ken’s are playing their first show as part of the LG family… more on them in 2010.  Last but not least, Metric is playing the pinnacle of Austin, Stubbs Tavern.  5 years after they first conquered the Lone-Star State touring Live It Out, they return to wow people with a new slate of gems.  Fantasies is on it’s way to passing Double Platinum in Canada – how far we’ve come since the boroughs of Brooklyn.  Congratulations to Emily, Jimmy, Joules and Josh on their multiple Juno Nominations – fitting recognition for an amazing record and a truly special band.

Please come join us!  Great music, good people, fun times….. what the world needs.

A most unsuspecting match: Lindi Ortega and Major Lazer!….

Feb 18
5:16 PM

Our very own alt/pop/country darling Lindi Ortega is featured alongside Thom Yorke, MIA, and others as part of Major Lazer’s new release “Lazers Never Die” – a collaborative project of producers Diplo and Switch.  It’s pretty rad to be featured alongside these amazing artists.  No doubt hipster boys (and girls) all around the world will fall in love with her sultry soulful voice….. we did long ago.

Check the full story through NME.

Lazers Never Die” releases sometime in April (still TBD).

Lindi is in the studio now writing and recording gems for her debut record – we’re excited to share it with the world this year!

K-OS + Drake Tour

Feb 12
1:14 PM

To all our American friends, we are happy to announce that K-OS will be joining fellow Canadian Drake on his “Away From Home Tour”.  The madness starts April 6th in Charleston, IL and will be stopping at colleges accross the US.  K-OS is also playing two select solo dates next month in New York City (March 2nd at Le Poisson Rouge) and Los Angeles (March 4th at The Roxy).

Khv is making noise in the US as lead-in to the physical release of his critically accliamned Yes! album.  His video’s for “4,3,2,1” and “I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman” are currently spinning on MTVU and MTV2’s Subterranean.  He will also be co-hosting  a special “Black History Month” episode of BET’s “The Deal”.  For the uninitiated, this album is truely special.  We are happy to be helping Kheaven share it with the world.  Aside from stand-out solo tracks, the album also features collaborations from fellow Last Gang alum Emily Haines (Metric) and Murray Lightburn of The Dears.
